This was my son's first favorite book. At the age of one he used to sit in his car seat and flip through this the entire time he was in the car! The board book is very well constructed - highly recommend this for your chewing, ripping, destroying little one :)The board book is a condensed version of the full sized edition but the pictures are great, the size is perfect, and there's enough text to get a conversation going between you and your little one. When my guy gets a little older I plan on buying the full sized edition with additional text, but for now this is perfect for him.
This was a gift for my hockey-crazed four-year old nephew, along with the number hockey book. He is always on the go and it is difficult to get him to focus on anything for a long period of time. However, after giving him these books, he immediately sat down and looked through the whole book! I like that it has a short rhyming sentence for the younger child, but there is more information on the side of each page to engage him in when he gets older. I think the alphabet book is a little better written, but both books are excellent and a great tool for encouraging reading while keeping one's interest.
Bought it as part of a shower gift for my hockey fan boss- the book itself is great but it arrived a little dinged up. I'll probably end up keeping it for myself because I really don't want to give a damaged gift.
Loved the book. Gave it 2 stars because the edges were pretty damaged when it arrived. The book is big and flimsy and of course it was sent in an envelope so it could be easily damaged. Should have just spend the extra $1 and bought the hardcover.
My hockey player and hockey obsessed son loves reading this to his little baby sister. The illustrations are very beautiful. It not only teaches you the alphabet, but quite a lot of hockey basics. Love!
Pages are falling out of the paperback version. We love the story, but the book is poorly put together.
This was a gift to my grandson for his 9th birthday along with a book entitled "Z is for Zamboni". He and his dad are great Devils fans and have attended many games. The book is far from an A to Z primer, it is full of facts about ice hockey and was given along with a small reproduction of a zamboni. If you need a gift (or 2) for a hockey fan, especially NJ Devils, this book and the small zamboni sold separately by Amazon will fit the bill.
Our son and daughter love hockey. One is 4 and one is 9. There is part that I can read with my 4 year old and part my 9 year old can read on her own. Beautiful book!
