Constructed as a single, 20-foot-long, accordion-folded panel, this time line begins with a chart illustrating the lifelines of early Genesis characters from Adam to Abraham, then follows the biblical story beginning with Abraham circa 2166 B.C.E. The work is comprised of two parallel portions: The upper part follows biblical and Christian history, while the bottom covers a wide-ranging and representative set of dates and events for corresponding world history from both the East and West. Thankfully, the authors give fairly equal attention to Christianity's many expressions: Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Protestant forms, etc. Graphics and symbols highlight especially important points and significant people, who are denoted by red squares, and the illustrations add interest and visual appeal without cluttering the time line. But while it invites close study and concentrated browsing, the book can become cumbersome. The amount of data is almost overwhelming- one page alone examines Wilberforce to Darwin and the Opium Wars to influenza, with dozens of persons and events in between. An index would have been helpful. Nonetheless, the authors offer a feast of information for the church-history buff. (daughter...) I am a 15 year old homeschooled freshman. I have been homeschooling for two years now, and love it. Bible & Christian History Timelines is a voluminous benefit to my history lessons; I just add it to whatever I'm reading. This book complements everything from my Bible lesson, to my art and literature courses. Before I discovered this book, I was not interested in history at all. Learning was boring, and quite frankly, I didn't care. Part of the reason why I didn't care is because I never realized how history and the Bible "worked" (in terms of references to historical periods in time). History just seemed to have its "own separate timeline" and the Bible seemed to just have its "own separate timeline" as well, but the two never mixed. Reading this book gave me a WHOLE new view on life! Who knew the Olympic Games were going on during the time of Jonah's life?! So cool. This book has opened a new door to understanding how rich history is and I can now appreciate it. I much recommend this book for every Christian family out there.
Great addition to our family library. Neat tool to pull out--deepens our understanding of history and places Biblical events within a temporal context that brings them all the more to life. Highly recommended.

perfect. there are a lot of bible charts but I needed one that was easy to read but didn't take up a lot of space. now when I read my bible I can open this, flip to the time line I'm in and see what else was happening in our world at that time, makes it more relatable to other hx events.
Bought it thinking it was sort of a history book. It’s literally a graph book. Kinda meh.

I have used this chart repeatedly as I read through the O.T., and for other historical considerations. This is an easy way to get perspective on the influences in and around each culture and time period. I keep it handy.
I bought this book, for a friend, as a gift. She had told me that she had always wanted a Christian History book, so I bought this one for her, and she loves it! I'm glad she is happy, and I think any practicing Christian would love this book, as well.
