In a book that features the work of many designers and a large stable of photographers, there is, with few exceptions, remarkable consistency in the beauty and intrigue of the tableaux and the quality pf page layouts, The size of the book, smaller than a typical coffee-table volume, suits the subject matter perfectly, and the quality of the paper adds to a sense of the book's enduring value."It's the Little Things" is divided into five chapters: Surfaces, Walls, Mantels, Little Moments, and Big Moments. The range of decor styles varies dramatically, from the classic and luxe of Ann Getty to the spare, modern, and avant garde. But commonalities also exist. Most notable is the juxtaposition of objects both precious and modest to produce major decorating impact. For many readers, the book's most important feature will be its ability to inspire our own efforts, for it shows how objects already owned but previously overlooked and even unearthed at second-hand stores and in gardens can, in combination, create a sense of wonder and celebration.
Love the images in this book. I'm a maximalist, and this was catnip for me. I'm especially happy that some of the images that I have in Pinterest are in this book. Pinterest is great, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I like a larger printed image to look at!

As stated on the cover, this book is all about "stylish small stuff". Since we're avid collectors of decorative items, these words were music to our ears. Much of the "stuff" in the book tends to be ornate and many of the rooms feature bold colors and patterns. If you like eclectic mixes and fanciful decor, it seems like you'd find inspiration in this book.Each room featured in the book receives two pages, consisting of one large photo, a brief description or quote by the room's designer, and occasionally a second closeup photo of some detail in the room. Each description includes the name of the room's designer, which makes it easy to look up other examples of a designer's work.
