Well written book, I felt like I was there. Very emotional as to be expected with the topic. As a parent I fully understand what drove her to her choices. So, glad she had that time with Chrissy. Also, thank you for the education on CF. I had not realized it's affect or how prevalent it is. My heart goes out to those special people and their loving families. Thank you for sharing something so close to you.
Nothing can possibly be worse than helplessly watching your child suffer and leave you behind. You will cry more than once when you read the story of this beautiful little girl with C.F. who smiled and lived her life to the fullest and of her devoted mother who steadfastly climbed the hurdles alongside her. But you will feel richer for the privilege of getting to know them both. A beautiful story, well told.
Where to start? ‘Beautiful’, heart-warming’ ‘sad’… apt as they are, just words, really. This is a full of wonder and tears story, beautifully told. There seems to be as much said behind the words written on the page as what you can read, and there is a lot to read, not in volume, but in emotion, joy, sadness, denial, guilt, acceptance. I found myself sometimes shaking my head in bewilderment, others having to stop reading to take a break, dry my eyes. A good read should leave a legacy, and if that is any measure of a good read, then this story, Patricia and Chrissy’s story, left me with a deep thankfulness for all I have, and have lost. Precious things can still remain, even if they can’t stay. Read this memoir; laugh cry, give thanks.
